Power colors “The art of choosing your perfect palette”
What are the most powerful colors and what makes them powerful?
Deep, rich hues constitute power and uncommon tones will set you apart from the crowd, evoking your distinct aura.
Classic power colors:
Burgundy / Berry/ Wine : More subtle than red, with undertones of violet and warm browns. More masculine than feminine, burgundy is more deadly on a woman who chooses to play both sides. Burgundy will never go out of style and has a timeless element to it for its constant reinvention and use in academia, high fashion, and complementary nature to most other colors.
Emerald / Jungle green / Billiard green: The deep tranquil jewel tone of emerald green, tinged with blue tones, is a rich color found in nature and speaks of one’s nurturing side, while being the power color in the room that doesn’t have to scream the loudest. Masculine or feminine, the man who wears this color must be careful not to be overpowered by it. As an accent, tie, belt, socks you will show your fun side.
Black: On the one hand, it allows the non-wearer to project their idea of what the wearer’s intentions are, the opposite of the blank white canvas. Black is the color of the service industry, submissive, resigning the wearer to feel as if they are blending in with their surroundings and not overshadowing their subject while they are able to work at a serious pace. On the other hand, black is chic in the right cut and material, accented well by anything else. Black, the ultimate chameleon and commander of respect. Mysterious and authoritative, you will be mistaken for the boss, especially in that power suit and floor-length gown. At the very least, appearing as someone who has their own agenda and tends to be non-conformist.
Rare power colors:
Violet / Lavender: What is the difference? Violet is light purple (blue + red) with bluish undertones, more rare than lavender. Lavender is a light reddish purple and popular floral fragrance. Flowery and soft, a close counterpart to its royal purple will make the wearer feel ephemerally regal and conscious of eyes fixated in their direction. A bit mysterious, choose carefully the occasion you are dressing for in soft violets and lavenders as you will want this color to off-set your signature everyday color.
Chartreuse / yellow green: A very high-end color because it is electrifying, the color of absinthe, alcohol, the color that we imagine a post-apocalyptic world would radiate, or at least a popular color of the 80s. “Different” embodies this color; you must be bold and brave to pull it off. Not the most popular but the most able to convey a non-conformist attitude, evoking vestiges of past vintage fashion.
Magenta (bright purple-pink) : Obsessed with this color, are you? It is magical, glowing, mysterious, and feminine. Rarely found in nature, magenta is a vibrant color that commands attention. It is also dangerous, as it has an agenda. Magenta-wearers will be ready to party into the night, magenta anything else will have you intrigued long after the party is over. Magenta will leave you with fond memories and wanting more, wear carefully.
How to wear and style your accent pieces:
Faux fur accents- Trailblazing hip-hop artists have always used real fur accents in their red carpet wardrobe but we prefer the faux version. Who can tell the difference nowadays with the great synthetic options on the market. Think Rihanna in the yellow fur floor-length gown!
Blazers- A power symbol or casual conservative piece, one can wear a pastel blazer to a formal brunch or to close the deal on their yacht.
Navy blue is a color reserved for the upper class, referencing leisurely activities and nautical sports. Unless of course you are in the military, then you will accent navy with your accolades. A red blazer is fast and chic, you must be getting into your Lamborghini to hit the club, as red stimulates and takes the energy from its element.
